Grip wax
Grip wax provides the kick in classic cross-country skiing. Here we gather hard wax, klister, base wax and other products to adapt grip to the temperature, snow type and the ski’s kick zone.
Hard wax, klister or tape
Hard wax is used primarily in cold, fresh and fine-grained snow. Klister is better suited to coarse, transformed, wet or icy snow. Grip tape is a simple and durable alternative for those who want to reduce the need for daily fine-tuning.
How to build durable grip
- Clean and lightly roughen the kick zone.
- Use base wax when the grip needs to withstand long distances or abrasive tracks.
- Apply thin layers and adjust the length and thickness to match the ski’s camber.
- Always test the skis before a longer tour or race.
Choose with the help of the snow
Temperature is only part of the choice. Fresh snow, man-made snow, old snow and damp conditions may require completely different grip waxes despite the same temperature.
