Choose the right wax for the day's conditions

Start with temperature and snow type. Cold, dry snow? Harder grip wax and colder glide. Wetter or coarse snow? Klister or softer glide products. Base wax (grip/glide) extends durability and provides a smoother feel.

Glide wax – solid or liquid?

Solid paraffins provide a durable base and top performance. Modern liquid glide products are quick to apply, easy to work with, and today almost as good for everything except the longest races – perfect topping for training and competition.

Grip wax & klister – getting it right

Apply several thin layers and cork out each layer. Poor grip? Too cold wax or too few layers. Snow sticking? Too warm wax – go colder or cover klister thinly with jar wax.

The tools that make a difference

Brushes (steel/brass → horsehair → nylon) release structure and provide speed. Scrapers remove excess. Waxing irons with thick plates provide even heat. Ski holders/waxing tables make the job stable and safe.

Should I choose universal glide?
Universal glide works broadly and is perfect for everyday use. For races/demanding conditions: match temperature and snow type more specifically.
How many layers of grip wax?
The ski is built for 4–7 thin layers, cork out each layer for best grip and durability.
Do I need to groove the ski?
Grooving is mostly for competition. Mainly in humid/wet conditions. Linear/fine structure is sufficient for recreational skiers.
