Special products for glide
Here you’ll find additives and specialty glide wax products that help you adapt your waxing to the characteristics of the snow. Choose from cold powder, graphite, molybdenum, hardeners and boosters when you need increased durability, lower static friction or better glide in dirty snow.
Choose specialty products based on the snow
Specialty products complement your regular glide waxing. Start with the day’s glide wax and then choose a product that serves a clear purpose in the current snow conditions.
- Cold powder and hardeners: used to make the wax harder and more durable in very cold or abrasive snow. This includes, among others, Swix cold powder and Vola X-Hard.
- Graphite and antistatic products: help reduce static friction. The area of use varies between products, so choose based on both the snow type and the product description.
- Molybdenum: is especially relevant in old, coarse-grained, transformed, artificial and dirty snow. Here you’ll find both solid and liquid options from Start.
- Booster for cold powder: SkiGo Cold Powder Booster is used together with cold racing powder in dry winter conditions.
How to use additives and specialty glide wax products
Some products are mixed with the day’s glide wax, while others are applied as a separate layer or used together with powder. Follow the product’s procedure for application, waxing iron, drying or cooling, as well as scraping and brushing.
Feel free to try one change at a time and compare the glide. That way, you’ll learn when a specialty product benefits your skis.
