Edge care and sharpening tools

Maintenance or restoration

Diamond stones are used for regular maintenance, deburring, and polishing with very little material removal. Files are used when the edge is clearly dull, damaged, or needs to be restored to the correct angle.

Two surfaces need to be worked

• The base edge affects how quickly the ski engages on edge and how easily it pivots.
• The side edge affects grip and aggressiveness on hard surfaces.
• The sidewall may need to be planed away so the file or stone can reach the steel at the correct angle.

Work precisely

Always use a guide or a multi-tool that holds the correct angle. Start carefully, check with a marker pen, and finish with a finer diamond stone or ceramic stone.
