Swix Side Edge File Guide is a fixed file guide in hard aluminum for sharpening the side edge to 86°, 87°, 88° or 89°.
Choose edge grip level before the tool: 89° gives a more forgiving edge for regular skiing, while lower angles provide a more aggressive side edge. Choose based on the skier and the ski, not on what sounds the most race-oriented.
How to use the product
- Mount the ski on its side with the base facing away from you.
- Secure a file or stone in the guide with a separate file clamp.
- Work from tip to tail using short, overlapping strokes.
- Start with a file only when setting the angle or repairing damage.
- Then maintain primarily with a diamond stone and finish with a very fine stone.
