Swix Base File Guide 0.5 to 2.0° is an adjustable file guide for precise sharpening of the base edge on alpine skis and snowboards.
Set the angle once and work sparingly: The base edge angle affects how quickly the edge engages. Only increase it when you know why, since an excessive angle cannot be reduced without stone grinding the base.
How to use the product
- Clamp the ski with the base facing up.
- Set the desired base edge angle between 0.5° and 2.0°.
- Mount a file or stone no thicker than 6 mm.
- Work on the edge farthest from you using light, controlled strokes from tip to tail.
- Then maintain the angle with fine diamond stones instead of filing often.
