Base wax for glide
Base glide wax for ski bases is used to saturate and protect the base material and create a good foundation for the next glide wax. It is particularly well suited to new or freshly stone-ground skis.
When is base wax needed?
Use base wax for base preparation, after thorough cleaning or stone grinding, before summer storage, and when a dry base needs to be built up again.
Choose hardness based on purpose
- A soft base wax works well as the first layer when saturating the base.
- A medium-hard base wax is well suited for base preparation and as transport protection.
- A harder base layer can increase durability under a temperature-specific race wax.
Procedure
Solid base wax and base powder are ironed in with a waxing iron according to the product instructions. Let the ski cool, scrape off the excess, and brush out the structure. Repeat if necessary, but adjust the number of layers according to the condition and structure of the base.
Liquid base wax is applied and allowed to dry according to the product instructions. Brushing and any further treatment depend on which product you are using.
