Diamond files and sharpening stones
Diamond stones and sharpening stones are used to remove burrs, polish out file marks, and keep steel edges sharp with minimal material removal. Here you will find different grit sizes for coarse maintenance, regular service, and fine finishing.
Choose grit size according to the task
- Coarse stone, around 100-200, is used for hard burrs, surface rust, and rock damage.
- Medium, around 400, is a good all-round choice for regular maintenance.
- Fine, around 600-1000 or finer, is used for polishing and top finish.
- A ceramic stone can be used as the final step for a very smooth and durable edge.
Work step by step
Start only as coarse as the damage requires and continue with finer grits. Work with a guide that holds the correct angle and finish with a few light strokes from tip to tail.
Take care of the stone
Clean the stone during the work and follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding water or other liquid. A clogged stone cuts less effectively and can produce an uneven finish.
