Brushes
Brushes are used to clean the ski base, open the structure after scraping, and polish the finished glide surface. Here you will find hand brushes and roto brushes in steel, bronze, horsehair, nylon, and fleece.
Different brushes have different tasks
Metal brushes are used for cleaning and for working wax out of the structure. Horsehair effectively removes fine paraffin residue, especially from hard wax. Nylon is often used as a final polish, while fleece is used with certain liquid waxes and topcoats.
Hand brush or roto brush
- Hand brushes are simple, affordable, and provide good control when preparing smaller numbers of skis.
- Roto brushes save time and provide even treatment when many pairs of skis need to be prepared.
- Always follow the recommended order, pressure, and RPM from the wax and brush manufacturer.
Keep the brushes clean
It is a good idea to label brushes by work step, for example cleaning, hot wax, and liquid wax. A separate cleaning brush reduces the risk of dirt and old wax residue being transferred to the new finish.
