Tools for the side edge

Side edge tools hold the file or diamond stone at the correct angle to the ski’s steel edge. An even side edge provides more secure grip and a more predictable feel on hard snow.

Swedish and international angle markings

In Sweden, the actual side edge angle is often given as 89°, 88°, 87° or 86°. On some foreign tools, the same angles may be marked as 91°, 92°, 93° or 94°.

Maintenance with a diamond stone

File only when the edge is clearly dull or the angle needs to be restored. For routine maintenance, a diamond stone is often enough, followed by a finer polish.
