The basics for sharpening the family's slalom skis are really just a file holder, a file, and a whetstone. Of course, it's easier if you also have a good ski holder to secure the skis in when sharpening them.

We start with the holder for the file & whetstone. We recommend a holder with a built-in screw clamp, it is more stable and easier to use than a file clamp. Choose a holder with an 88-degree angle, it suits all skiing.

For the file holder, you need a regular file that you use to get the new angle on the steel edge and file your dull steel edges. We recommend a medium file with about 16 lines per centimeter.

The file is used quite sparingly and mostly if the edges have become really dull. A whetstone is used more frequently to maintain sharpness. With a whetstone of grit size 400, it will become very sharp.

With these products, for skiing on regular slopes, even if the family is very skilled, you will feel that you always have razor-sharp edges. This also works excellently if you have children who have started ski school and are at the beginning of their competitive career.

Most skis have plastic on the side that gets in the way when you need to sharpen the ski edges, this plastic must be removed with a special tool. This is a one-time operation that may already be done on your skis. Perhaps you also know someone who has this tool that you can borrow. Otherwise, it is this edge remover you need.
