Start's new fluorine-free racing glide

Recently, the surprising decision came that fluoride is banned by the ski federations in both cross-country skiing and alpine skiing already for this season 20/21. This meant that this season, fluoride waxes could not be used in competitions, either nationally or internationally. The reason it did not happen was because a functioning test equipment could not be developed in time.

However, Start is at the forefront of developing alternatives to fluoride, as Start invested heavily in an alternative to fluoride four years ago, which now puts them ahead of the competition. The brand new RG line from Start is the next generation of fluoride-free racing waxes with technical microceramics. Advanced blends of several microceramic components affect the nanostructure of the glide surfaces and reduce both wet and dry friction with very good durability - the same properties that fluoride had. Additionally, these new products are good for both the environment and health.

The paraffins come in different hardnesses for different temperatures. In addition, there are products with graphite additives for cold new snow, as well as molybdenum for old dirty snow. The RG line is available in two levels. Ultra, for top racing which corresponds to previous high fluoride waxes, and Race which corresponds to previous medium fluoride waxes, meaning that even this series (Race) is superior to low fluoride waxes. Several of the paraffins are also available as liquid products dissolved in alcohol. Dissolving the paraffin in alcohol instead of petroleum, which is the usual method, is not only gentler on the base but is also superior for health and the environment and is very easy to apply.

Tests have shown that the RG line provides the same glide properties as fluoride waxes in most conditions, in some cases even better.
