Edge band / Base Edge

The size of the angle on the edge of the base affects the ski's ability to be angled against the snow. The larger the angle is, the easier it becomes to maneuver the ski from side to side without the edge unintentionally catching. In skiing terms, this is often referred to as "hanging the edge".
