This is how liquid glide wax works

Liquid glide waxes are becoming increasingly popular, both among recreational skiers and competitive skiers. They are easily applied with a sponge or spray and require neither waxing irons nor scrapers. Nowadays, they have almost as good durability as solid waxes – the difference is mainly noticeable in really long cross-country races.

Advantages of liquid glide wax

  • Quick and easy application – no irons or advanced tools needed.
  • Almost as durable as solid waxes, especially for shorter trips and competitions.
  • Perfect for alpine disciplines, training, and everyday skiing.
  • Easy to bring and apply on trips or directly at the track.

When should you use liquid glide wax?

  • During training and shorter competitions where speed and simplicity are most important.
  • Widely used in alpine skiing due to quick application and good results.
  • When you don't have access to a waxing bench or want to travel light.

How to apply liquid glide wax

  1. Shake the bottle well before use.
  2. Apply the wax with a sponge or spray over the entire base.
  3. Let it dry for at least 10–15 minutes.
  4. Brush out the structure with a nylon brush until the surface is shiny.

Limitations

Liquid glide wax has very good durability today, but for extremely long cross-country races and the most demanding conditions, solid waxes still provide an advantage. Many skiers therefore combine a solid base with a liquid topping.
