Brushes

What do the different brushes do?

  • Brass, bronze, or steel brushes remove oxidized layers and material that have clogged the pores in the base so that the base can receive new grip wax and glide wax.
  • Soft bronze brushes, horsehair, or nylon remove excess wax and smooth the base to maximize glide.
  • Cork brushes are used to apply wax thinly and evenly, and through the friction heat generated, it is done very well.

Brushes are available both as hand brushes and as rotary brushes which are used with a screwdriver/drill. If you are going to wax a lot, whether it's cross-country skis or alpine skis, we can really recommend rotary brushes.
