Comax was founded in the post-war period on the initiative of Presiese Carlo Codega as a company for the production of scissors and cutting tools. The business, now taken over by the founder's heirs, continues to develop and thrive.
The passion for winter sports and alpine skiing at an elite level led Massimo Codega and his sons Carlo and Ivan to develop an edge sharpener that is easy to use, perfected in function and convenient in form and size. In 2008, the idea was born to design and develop a technically advanced sharpener for steel edges. The work with continuous research, experimentation, collaboration with researchers and industry professionals, has led Comax to develop Carrot, which has been available with its products on the market since 2011.
"We sharpened blades for 60 years. Our long history of scissors production has never stopped challenging the future. Our innovation is intuition, continuous research and experimentation, union of cutting-edge technologies, manual knowledge and... passion for skiing!"
Carrot's waxes are developed by their chemist Luciano, who has many years of experience with other wax manufacturers. The goal with Carrot was and is a wax that has minimal friction for a long time, something Luciano has succeeded with. The wear tests conducted show that the wax stays on the ski during several miles of cross-country skiing or several days on the slopes. It is therefore suitable for all disciplines on snow.
The composition of the waxes includes three different waxes to achieve both a well-maintained ski and exceptional glide. You will find more than twice as many ingredients in Carrot compared to competitors.
What you won't find in Carrot is fluorine, something that was removed three years ago to produce and deliver a wax with equivalent glide as high-fluorine waxes the day the fluorine ban becomes a reality. We can proudly say that the work has had very good results.
Carrot's liquid waxes should be seen as a liquid wax and can be used without hard paraffin or with hard paraffin. In both cases, you get a well-maintained ski due to the high amount of wax. If you want to achieve that little extra, you should use the liquid wax underneath and then melt on hard paraffin. Regardless of the method you prefer, Carrot's waxes should be allowed to harden properly in the cold once they have dried before scraping and brushing thoroughly, preferably with a rotary brush.
All Carrot waxes are environmentally labeled according to the EU.

A tip, when you read about Carrot's wax. They specify the temperature range of the waxes based on the snow temperature, not the air temperature as most other waxes do. For example, their warm waxes range from 0 to -8 degrees. Snow cannot be warmer than zero degrees, then it melts
