Fresh snow
Fresh, fine and often sharp snow usually needs harder grip wax and more care around freezing. Start slightly colder rather than too soft.
Vallaboden - SkiGo grip wax chart
Choose the nearest temperature and compare SkiGo's recommendations for new snow and coarse snow and icy crust respectively. All waxes are linked to current products with image, price and stock status.
Start with the snow type
Fresh, fine and often sharp snow usually needs harder grip wax and more care around freezing. Start slightly colder rather than too soft.
Transformed, icy and abrasive snow often needs klister or a strong base under hard grip wax. Durability and the track surface are especially important here.
SkiGo's recommendations
Product images, current prices, availability and links are taken directly from Shopify. The recommendations use the same combinations as the previous SkiGo chart.
Tracks, precipitation, humidity, ski camber and technique affect the result. Try the harder option first, especially in fresh snow around freezing.
Older product names in the chart are linked to today's range: Base Extra Strong appears as Grundvalla X-Strong and FFR Lila as FFR Violet.

The first thin layer anchors the wax and improves durability. Where the chart says ironed in, work the layer in gently and smooth it before applying the day's wax.
The layer providing most of the grip. Apply hard grip wax in several thin layers, corking between them. Apply klister evenly and let it cool before starting.
Another option when the track, precipitation or snow type differs from the main recommendation. Change one thing at a time and record how the skis performed.

Learn to distinguish fresh snow from transformed, coarse and icy snow.
Build an even grip layer with thin applications and proper corking.
Stay close to the icing threshold without making the wax unnecessarily soft.
Choose the base, amount and method for coarse, glazed and wet snow.
