Base binder for the grip zone

Base binder for the kick zone creates a durable foundation under hard kick wax or klister. It is especially important over long distances, in coarse snow, and when the grip needs to last for many kilometers.

Why use base binder?

A thin base layer bonds to the roughened kick zone and helps the day’s kick wax stay in place. It reduces the risk of the wax wearing off early during the tour.

Choose type according to top wax

• Base wax is used under hard kick wax in colder, finer-grained snow.
• Base klister is used under klister in coarse, icy, and abrasive snow.
• Some base binders can be gently heated in for extra durability.

Procedure

Clean the kick zone, roughen it lightly, apply a very thin layer, and smooth it out carefully. Let the base binder cool or cure before applying the day’s hard kick wax or klister on top.
