Valla alpine skis - General advice

A good tip is to only have a limited range of dams and learn the dams you have properly. Feel free to write down what you use from time to time. That way you learn a lot and a well-kept notebook is invaluable in achieving the perfect glide. This applies especially to cross-country skiing, but of course also works for alpine skiing if you want to achieve perfection.

Things to keep an eye on and write down

1. What kind of silage you used Then record how it wentk?

2. Which before it was, i.e. what type of snow it was

3. Humidity: Is it high or low?

4. The temperature

How cold it is outside has a decisive influence on which wall covering you should put on. Keep in mind that there are often different temperatures in the snow and the air.

All fence brands have largely the same color coding system for their ski fence and this applies to both sliding fence and fixed fence.

RED: very warm, about three to ten degrees plus
Yellow: warm, some plus to minus one degree
Violet: around zero to minus three degrees
Blue: about three to ten degrees below zero
Green: cold, about ten to twenty degrees below zero

General tips and advice for herding

  1. Use pile iron intended for ski pile. Regular irons have excessively uneven thermostats.
  2. Always keep the roller moving.
  3. Activate the coating before skidding by lightly brushing in the direction of travel with a fine wire brush or bronze/brass brush. Be light on your hand when using a fine wire brush.
  4. Brushing after sickling is usually done too little. Brush some more even though you feel satisfied. With the horsehair brush, you can never brush too much.
  5. The only time you use Wax Remover / Vallaväck is for cleaning cross-country skiers attachment wall zone and upper side. Wax Remover is never used on the ski's sliding surfaces. For sliding surfaces, special remover intended for sliding surfaces must be used. Be careful to distinguish between the two products.
  6. The sliding surfaces of the skis benefit from occasional cleaning. Then use a soft paraffin such as SKIGO Soft and then warm up with a cast iron. Then sickle while the glidal paraffin is still warm. After this, the sliding surfaces need to cool and then be brushed out as after a normal sliding paraffin.
  7. Remember: Practice makes perfect! Try a few different herding options in training so you know it works in any competition. When competing, you should never test new dykes, you do that during training.
  8. When you put the skis away for storage at the end of the season or during a longer break, we recommend ALWAYS putting a layer of sliding paraffin on the sliding surfaces of the skis without slicing off, it keeps the surface clean and fresh for the next time.
  9. Take care of your skis so that you always get the most out of them.
  10. We cannot emphasize enough the joy and help you will get from a well-filled notebook.
