Sickles are used to clean and scrape the skis from excess chaff. An important thing to remember is not to use the same plastic sickle to remove sliding wax and fixing wax. Sickles are consumables that become dull after a while, which means that it may be worth buying a sharpener, working with a dull sickle makes the work dull and so much more difficult.

A must for all fencing is an acrylic/plexiglass sickle in any thickness, we like 3mm ourselves. In addition, you need another sickle for scraping guide tracks on cross-country skis, which can also be used to scrape clean edges on both cross-country and alpine skis.
