Old snow is more aggressive and abrasive than new snow and requires waxes with better wear resistance. On the other hand, it is relatively easy to get grip but the wax needs to be hard enough to maintain glide. The synthetic kick waxes are tougher and harder than the tar kick waxes and therefore they are also more wear-resistant while maintaining glide. To ensure that the wax stays on the base, especially for longer distances, base wax or base binder is recommended under these waxes.
Please put this can in the snow for a while before application so it gets cold. This is because this wax is quite sticky. It becomes much easier if the wax is cold.
The thin layer of base wax should be heated in with a waxing iron.
The kick wax itself must be corked in with synthetic cork.
